The James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful telescope ever built, has revolutionised our knowledge and understanding of the Universe.
I this lecture, Adriano Fontana will give a review of the concept of the mission and of some of the latest results, covering the exploration of our solar system, the atmosphere of exoplanets and the search for extraterrestrial life, the birth of galaxies and black holes in the young Universe. All of this will be accompanied by stunning high‑resolution images captured by the telescope.

Adriano Fontana is Research Director at INAF Rome Observatory. He leads a research group that is using Webb to identify and study the first galaxies that appeared in the Universe soon after the Big Bang.
